Head of Bulletdodge Records, Gareth Whitehead is a vastly experienced producer, remixer, DJ and artist that has established his own signature brand of deep and dubby tech-house and minimal. His tracks are defined by a crisp, clean production style that highlights his engineering background, yet retain the tasteful musicality and dynamic consideration of an individual that is a true music lover and artist. Gareth to date has released on numerous labels (see below) and has seen support from the likes of Joris Voorn, Slam,Tony Rohr, Anja Schneider, John Digweed, Bryan Zentz, Electric Rescue, Jon Rundell, Alex D’elia, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Derrick May, Martin Landsky, Joey Beltram, James Ruskin plus many more. Not content with blazing a trail in the minimal/tech arena, Gareth’s deep production style has seen him become a recognised face on the international House scene. Promising enough in its own right, Gareth also is part of a broader campaign of Collaborations, regularly producing with Werner Niedermeier, Tom Taylor, Jo Mills, Louis Osbourne, Marshall Jefferson, Robert Owens, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Random Factor Greg Gow and X-Press 2.
2013 also saw the launch of his new label, WiN Recordings with Werner Niedermeier. The pair have for several years had a prolific output under their Niedermeier & Whitehead guise and now have branched out further to create a bespoke label dedicated to releasing their own productions with guest remixers.
2015 has seen Bulletdodge release the debut album from Gareth, entitled, The Brood. The album isn’t the the usual 4/4 house and techno affair but rather a reflection on the history of the genres. These musical mediations see Gareth pay homage to the industry pioneers who not only inspired him as a producer and DJ but have also shaped the musical direction of Bulletdodge. Each track involves collaboration and sees Gareth working with the godfather of house, Marshall Jefferson; the legendary house vocalist Robert Owens, techno gurus Eddie Fowlkes, Carl Cox and the Brooklyn innovators Lenny Dee and Frankie Bones. The album also includes appearances from newer talents and long-term Bulletdodge collaborators Inxec, X-Press 2, Darren Emerson, Detroit Grand Pubah’s, Space Djz’s, Ben Long, Tom Taylor and Werner Niedermeier. To celebrate the album, Bulletdodge will also be releasing a series of singles, a remix album and a DJ mix containing a selection of the tracks from the project.
